This species occurs in moist forest habitats of Costa Rica's Pacific lowlands. Longino found two colonies under stones in the "bosque humedo" of Santa Rosa National Park, on 15 July 1985. One nest contained alate queens and males. Workers were also collected in a Winkler sample of sifted leaf litter from Sirena in Corcovado National Park.
Found most commonly in these habitats: 7 times found in tropical rainforest, 9 times found in mature wet forest, 8 times found in 2º lowland tropical rainforest, 2 times found in 2º lowland rainforest, 1 times found in dry forest, 1 times found in disturbed tropical wet forest, 1 times found in mature dry forest, 1 times found in Moist forest patch surrounded by dry forest ("Bosque Humedo")
